Botany Hall Teaching Kitchen at Phipps Conservatory

We’re celebrating National Pollinator Week in Botany Hall Kitchen! Pollinators play a vital role in our food ecosystem and without them, we humans would go hungry. In this class we’ll create culinary masterpieces that honor our local pollinators and the work that they do. We'll start with a Grilled Fennel Apple Salad thanks to our pollinating friend, the hover fly. Hover flies are the 2nd most important pollinator after, you guessed it, bees! Did you know bees pollinate about 1 in every 3 bites of food? To honor our bee friends, we’ll have an Italian Carrot Almond Cake! For dessert, we'll clink our glasses to celebrate the bats with a Mango Margarita. After all, we wouldn’t have tequila without bats! Come learn more about these pollinators and the flavors they provide us. Students must be 21 or older to participate.
