Preserve flora, fauna, and your memories into a cabinet of curiosities that you can cherish in the form of your choosing. Make any 2: brooches (pins), magnets, or curious objects. You will learn how to cut sheet glass and foil the edges, although pre-cut glass shapes will be provided, along with all materials. Optional: students may bring their own Poems, handwritten notes, paper collages, magazines, pictures, and thin materials like dried flowers, feathers, or anything sentimental you’d like in the glass. Items must be flat. Final pieces will be no larger than 3 inches.

Get crafty with us on a small scale! Just in time for Valentine's day, make the perfect gift for your special someone using dried and pressed flowers, collage, and foil. Preserve natural wonders and your memories into a cabinet of curiosities that you can cherish in the form of your choosing. Make 2 pieces of your pressed glass: brooches (pins), magnets, or curious objects.

Optional: students may bring their own poems, handwritten notes, paper collages, cut-outs, decals, magazines, pictures, and thin materials like dried flowers, feathers, or anything sentimental you’d like in the glass.

  • Cancellation Policy:
    • Contact edu@phipps.conservatory.org or 412-441-4442 ext. 3925 to cancel a class registration.
    • Up to two weeks before the class (or the first class date, for a multi-session class), you may receive a full refund minus a non-refundable $10 administrative fee.
    • Up to 72 hours (3 days) before the class or the first class date, you may receive a 50% refund.
    • Less than 72 hours (3 days) before the class or the first class date, there are no refunds.
    • Special events like conferences will have a separate cancellation policy and refund deadline.
  • Phipps Adult Education classes are for individuals 18 years of age and older. Minors over age 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is also a paid attendee of the class. Minors under age 16 are not permitted.
  • Phipps reserves the right to substitute instructors when necessary.
  • Mask and COVID-19 Policy: Masks are optional and welcome in Phipps classes when the CDC’s COVID-19 Community Level in Allegheny County is in “Low” (green) or “Medium” (yellow). You can check Allegheny County’s current status here. Masks will be required when the level is “High” (Red). People with symptoms, a positive test or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should refrain from attending classes.
